CANBY, Ore. -- Today LIX, the Oregon-based startup focused on improving pets’ lives with organically sourced cannabidiol, or CBD, announced a new line of broad spectrum, odorless and flavorless CBD tinctures for horses. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in hemp.
“The ELIXIR - Equine Formula” is a sustainability harvested CBD oil complete with a signature cannabinoid profile, formulated for horses and available in 2,500 mg bottles. This is an extension of The Elixir line designed for all small animals. The small animal line is available in sizes ranging from 250 mg to 1,000 mg bottles.
Crafted with broad spectrum CBD oil and infused with organic coconut oil, the tincture is flavorless and odorless, includes CBG, CBC, CBN, and is safe to use on horses and any large animals. It’s human tested and animal approved.
With a combined 25 years of experience in the pet wellness, food, pharmaceutical, cannabis, and technology worlds, founders Erin Hills and Kirstan Sanders merged their complementary skills – and their years nurturing animals in and out of rescue – to launch LIX in May 2020.
Horses can readily take the product straight from the dropper, resulting in immediate absorption to their system. All LIX products are made with broad spectrum CBD oil and contain no THC. “The ELIXIR - Equine Formula” is available in a 2,500 mg bottle with delineated dropper and explicit dosing and guidance on every package across the line.

LIX pet wellness products are human grade, organic, flavorless, odorless and always free of pesticides and additives. The hemp derived C BD used in LIX products is organically sourced and sustainably harvested in Colorado, Washington, California, and Oregon. LIX tinctures are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified.
“Through time spent in equestrian sports, horse rescue, and running a pet rescue organization together along with caring for our own animals, we have always been obsessed with overall pet happiness. Quality is critical to the mission of LIX and we’ll stay committed to animals, their people, and improving sustainability practices for our cherished Earth,” said Sanders.
In an article for Veterinary Practice News in July 2018, Dr. Patty Khuly, VMD, MBA, explained: “CBD is a component of both the marijuana plant and its close cousin, the hemp plant. Almost all of the CBD oil used in medicine is sourced from hemp. CBD’s safety profile has been studied in dogs at Colorado State University (conclusion: safe) and research into its efficacy in seizure disorders is currently underway there. A mountain of anecdotal reports also identifies osteoarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, allergic skin disease, appetite stimulation, and nausea relief (among others) as other potential areas of study. High-level evidence on efficacy is scant, to be sure, but CBD oil is considered safe and effective by a growing number of veterinary practitioners who aren’t your typical devotees of alternative medicine. I fall squarely into that camp. Count me among the converted .”
“After spending years rodeoing, training and owning horses, I was excited to try a product like LIX since it’s natural and doesn’t have any problematic effects for their liver or kidneys like other products. I like that I can give a natural product for anxiety and it actually works. I give it to my older horses for their ongoing joint pains too, and it’s affordable. I’ll always keep it in my tack room and trailer,” said Jennifer Webb Owner, Webb Ropes, Gresham, OR.
Each batch of product is tested at a third party independent lab to ensure the highest quality and potency. All LIX products use the highest quality hemp CBD combined with natural and organic ingredients.
